Abyss Eye [M5] is the new official expansion of the MEGA Evolution block of the Japanese Pokémon TCG, one of the most anticipated and darkest releases of the entire Mega era. For the first time in the Pokémon TCG, the set introduces the legendary Mega Darkrai ex, the absolute star of the expansion and symbol of the "abyss, darkness, and nightmares" theme.

The expansion is heavily inspired by the atmosphere of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, with a focus on Dark-type Pokémon and new Mega Evolutions. According to official Japanese previews, the set was even announced during the new moon phase in Japan, evoking the narrative concept of the "Abyss Eye."
